
Graffiti of Mermaids?
The “painting” next to Nicole, wearing the kimono, is really a photograph of the
bleached, weathered surface of a ships hull. Splashing sea water caused the red marks reminding of wheat blowing in the wind.
Not one ship is like any other. These designs offer a rare view of images, as they can only be seen near the water line when a ship is under way, and then only from the proximity of another boat.
The art work has become silk and in turn inspired the
fantasy kimono seen here.
